Hot Weather Tips

Follow these guidelines to keep your pet safe during the hotter months:

  • NEVER leave your pet in a parked car! An animal's body temperature can rise in just seconds. The temperature inside of a car can be 20-30 degrees more than the outside temperature. This can overheat the dog and potentially kill them.

  • Be careful walking your dog on pavement or concrete during very sunny and hot days. The hot pavement can burn the pads of your dogs paws.

  • Don't exercise your dog after a meal in hot weather. Try to exercise during the cooler parts of the day such as early morning or evening.

  • Make sure when your dog is outside they have adequate access to shade and water.

  • If your pet shows signs of heat distress, cool them down slowly and immediately take them to a veterinarian.
